Digital Technology in Arts Education, DTAE, Bergen Norway

A couple of weeks ago we had the opportunity to both be part of and attend the conference Digital Technology in Arts Education DTAE, at Western Norway University of Applied Science, in Bergen Norway. Thanks to a Mobility Funding from the Nordic Culture Point we were able to go there and thanks to an invite from the conference we held a Slot Car Music workshop with the conference participants. A thoroughly inspiring conference, new acquaintances and beautiful surroundings.

Looking forward to 2017

clock

The last months have been hectic and a bit chaotic. But now with the end of 2016 approaching we can conclude that we did not win the lottery this year either but learned more than money can buy and had fun while learning (and lacking sleep at times).

2017 already have a bunch of dates crossed in the calendar – feels great!

To begin with Cat Eyed People’s Playground will stay at Masthuggskajen, at least for part of 2017, for how long we will know during January when the contract is signed.

WordJam will take place in Gothenburg during the first part of the year. Thanks to additional support from Pronto, City of Gothenburg, 2 or 3  Swedish WordJam will held before mid-April.

WordJam together with Beats & Ord will then be part of The International Science Festival Gothenburg May 8 – 19, both as a part of the School Programme and as a part of the Public Programme.

In the end of May Slot Car Music head of to Bergen, Norway, where Cat Eyed People will host a workshop at and participate in the conference Digital Technology in Arts Education.

At Cat Eyed People’s Playground the exhibitions and playfulness will continue and a new exhibition will open in the beginning of next year.

Fun and a bit cold

Spent the Saturday at Cat Eyed People’s Playground with Slot Car Music Part II. Great fun and nice to have the company of Invisible Sounds and Göteborg Art Sounds (GAS festivalen) at Masthuggskajen. The day was rainy, grey and cold. We got stuck in the rain so we were not ready to open until 1 pm (not 12 as planned) but after that the time run by quickly.

People enjoyed having a go at the track and the synthesisers and even though the track was a bit smaller than last time the sound got really great, almost mediative as the strings of the ‘guitar’ was played and the drums drummed on. Everyone was happy including us 😀

The autumn is here but at Cat Eyed People’s Playground we will try to keep the warm summer-spirit at least until December.  This Saturday we will do a part two with Slot Car Music. At the same time the GAS-festival will present the work Invisible Sounds Anders Hultqvist, Stefan Östersjö and Per Sjösten at Masthuggskajen beside us.

Slot Car Music – closed this weekend

A seagull family is living just outside the Cat Eyed People’s Playground’s container and last weekend their babies hatched. Due to the family and their need of some ‘privacy’ (and our guests and our own ‘safety’) we have decided to have Slot Car Music closed this weekend.

If you missed the exhibition and wants to have a go at the track send us a message here on our Facebook-page or a mail to cateyedpeople@coscene.org and we will find a time to show it to you.
